The great majority of my students has been of the intermediate level and above. So the need to deliver dedicated pronunciation lessons or lesson segments never really arose until now. My approach regarding the improvement and correction the students’ pronunciation has so far been situational, whenever I detect an error of the sort I correct it, or sometimes when words that are identical as two parts of speech appear I make sure to provide the explanation needed and highlight the pronunciational difference; as in the case of the word ‘protest’ or 'advocate' to take just a couple of examples.
Nonetheless, this unit is a wealth of detailed information and instruction for those teachers who deliver pronunciation segments, and for me personally if and when the occasion comes up and I need to pause at a pronunciation component. To that effect, I find this unit to be a great introduction to the subject of pronunciation.
