This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit was about modal and phrasal verbs, as well as the passive voice. Just like some previous units, this information only makes sense on the base of the lessons from previous units. As such, it would be wise to teach your class first the tenses discussed in previous units before introducing them to these more difficult topics. The passive voice is another example of a grammatical form that I would not have known or been taught about. This is because I judge if it is grammatically correct based on the sound of the sentence, and do not analyze each word for grammatical clarity. I am glad that I now know why a sentence using these techniques should be structured in a certain way. In my classroom, I would introduce these types of verbs and the passive voice after making sure my students felt grounded when using the tenses. I think the video unit did a good job of providing an example of an effective lesson on modal verbs.
