This first unit was an overview unit which contained in outline, the various types of teaching methods, the levels of learning, and motivations/methods for good students and teachers. The course aim is to give one a solid foundation of teaching English as a second language. There are various roles a teacher can take including organizer (pairing/group activities), prompter (encourage class along), and model (there the only live source of English). There are also 6 different levels of learning ranging from beginning to intermediate. As the student advances through their learning accuracy will increase as well as their vocab eventually culminating in learning the subtle parts of speech. Most older students will be self-motivated while younger students often come with discipline and motivation difficulties. A good teacher will not give an advanced student basic content and will be focused on the learner not the teaching itself.
