This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit focuses on how a new language is taught in terms of grammar, vocabulary and functions. Each area is explained and an example of an ESA lesson is given. More specifically, the grammar area gives information on what the students need to be aware when studying a new structure. The vocabulary section outlines the difference between receptive and productive vocabulary and helps you understand how to select words to teach. It also gives a general idea of how easy or difficult learning a new vocabulary item would be and what the students need to be explained when a new word is introduced to them. For each of the three areas teaching techniques for the engage, study and activate phases of a typical ESA lessons are provided. Further, the practical examples of ESA lessons are particularly useful: besides the fact that they can be used a reference for lesson planning, they help understand better in which was a lesson is structured.
