This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This Unit taught us about how to be an effective teacher. The unit showed us the difference between an effective class and a non-effective class through video learning. The second class was clearly more effective due to the teacher's attitude and class plan and demeanour. The importance of engaging students right from the beginning was key! Learning their names and making them comfortable right from the beginning of class enabled the teacher and students to enjoy a better class. This unit gave helpful examples of how to encourage student's confidence in producing written and oral presentations of what they have learned. I think that I will use the idea to have students create fairy tale stories in my future classroom. I was interested to see how both fluency and accuracy are important parts of the language learning process, and it is important to make sure that each lesson is balanced between the two types of activities building on both of these skills.
