This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
In Unit Two we covered EFL methodologies, looking at different teaching methods, techniques, activities and the importance of feedback and error correction. We examined the Engage-Study-Activate (ESA) method. I found the description of activities for each component of ESA particularly helpful as this will be useful for planning my lessons in the future. It was also interesting to learn about the difference between mistakes and errors as well as learning the correction codes for written work. This study unit was focused on the parts of speech in the English language. It included all different parts of speech as well as examples and explanations for each. As a native speaker of English, I seldom consider the rules and the names and nature of these different parts of speech. Given that the course assumes a zero sum knowledge it was good to get a refresher for the parts of speech less often used in everyday speech. And is important to master for teaching English to non-native speakers.
