This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This subject was about maintaining order and control over the classroom. We learned about seating arrangements, such as horseshoes, rows, circles and tables. Each type has its own good and bad attributes. I believe that rows and a horseshoe design are the best for both student and teacher. We learned about pairing students up and how to avoid conflict in the classroom by properly designing the layout of the seats. We also learned about how and when to talk to the students and when to relax and sit down and watch from the sidelines. We also covered how to establish rapport and respect in the classroom and how to be emotionally stable. We covered the effectiveness and different ways of breaking the class up for group work, class work, pair work or individual work and when those methods should be used. I think that pair work is great as well as group work. I believe that the whole class working together would be fun but chaotic and noisy.
