Learning materials employed by the teacher can be divided into 2 groups: Authentic Materials that we use in everyday, practical situations and Created Materials which are teacher-designed to help supplement materials from coursebooks. Coursebooks share its advantages and disadvantages. For eg., they provide the material for the teacher to use making it easy, efficient and directing. However, teachers can become too dependent on these books, inhibiting diversity and creativity.This unit was centered around theories, methods and techniques used at teaching English. There are mentioned the 3 most used ways teachers apply to teach a foreign language. There are the authentic materials, which provide with a more wide variety of topics and vocabulary, there are the materials teachers create to target specific topics or needs, and there are the traditional course books everybody uses. These last ones, although the most used are the most limiting materials.
