This unit was a rather eye opening experience into the complexities of the english language. As a native speaker we often forget the many moving parts that go into what seems like a simple sentence. This chapter was a good review for a native speaker and I even learned some new fact, such as there are only three auxiliary verbs, do, have, and be. Yet, the entire time I reviewed I was trying to think of ways to make these relevant to and memorable to students. It is surely impossible to lecture on this material and expect the students to stay attentive and for all the rules to sink in. There was a small section that gave suggestions on how to help students learn superlatives by playing games and having the student act out the action with the adverb. I hope future chapters will help expand on these techniques because as a native speaker I was very discouraged from learning the numerous and dull rules to all the different parts of speech.
