I will be happy to be done, at least temporarily, with the emphasis on strict grammar because I find having to deal with rote memory and rules too mind-numbing. This is ironic in that there was a time, in another life, when it was so much easier and faster to memorize pages of facts without having to really think or reason things out. Fascinating how things evolve and change. That said, I do realize these rules are essential to the proper use of language.In this lesson I particularly learned that the attitude of the teacher greatly influences the attitude of the students. If the teacher doesn't smile or give encouragement to students, the students do not want to participate and feel intimidated. Likewise, when the teacher smiles, introduces themselves and involve the students in the lesson, the students feel included and were more likely to participate. The overall mood for the class starts with the teacher.
