In Unit 3, I learned about ESA methodology - Engage, Study, and Activate - and the different types of lessons that a teacher can use to teach their students. In this unit, I learned to take how to teach grammar, vocabulary, and functions in accordance with a certain type of lesson. For example, I can use the boomerang ESA type of lesson to teach language functions such as agreeing, disagreeing, and inviting. To teach new vocabulary, I can use the straight ESA type of lesson.I have only ever studied language in a school classroom and so have never really considered what the nuances might be in other settings; specifically in this case the business lessons. In hindsight it is obvious that the mannerisms and scope of a lesson for people with a professional interest in English would be quite different, but I didn't think about how a teacher would have to be more polite and probably less familiar than they would be with a younger group of students.
