One common problem for a teacher is what to teach in the first lesson. But that shouldn't be a problem anymore since the first lesson should be for building rapport between the students if it is a new group and with the teacher. Warmers are necessary part of a lesson to get the students in the mood for learning English. Reluctant students need to be given time to practice their language in a a less threatening atmosphere. They can also be allowed to pair with other students which will give them a safe environment and also get support fellow students.I use a lot of this equipment currently as a substitute and tutor and am very familiar with their proper usage. A few techniques for better teaching language points is always appreciated however, so I paid special attention to how to use the board correctly in this lesson. I understand how capitalization is more distracting than attention grabbing as opposed to using different colors and the like. Not familiar with IWBs yet, the district I'm working for doesn't have the funding, but I'm eager to get to use one! I guess we'll have to wait and see!
