The parts of speech section illustrates both rules that can be followed, along with guidelines in areas where the rules are not so clear - e.g. order of adjectives = size-age-color-material-noun. It also demonstrates the potential challenges students have in conjugating verbs, as there are numerous irregular verbs that just need to be memorized. There were also suggestions for games to play with the students to illustrate a particular part of speech or how to properly put together the pieces of the puzzle into a coherent sentence.Unit 14 reviewed various materials needed in the classroom in order to effectively teach ESL. It again contrasted authentic vs. inauthentic reading and teaching material and also touched on the value of coursebooks and their limitations. This unit encourages teachers to create course materials which are interesting so as to inspire and captivate the attention of the students, yet does not dismiss standard course texts because they often provide a sense of security and systematic progression in the eyes of both students and teachers.
