This unit is centered on how to use vocabulary while teaching. How to select a vocabulary. What do students need to know about a vocabulary item. What are the techniques for vocabulary teaching and its 3 different phases. The content describes the typical ESA vocabulary lessons, the straight arrow, with all the phases. Furthermore, it introduces grammatical structures and what are the techniques for presenting and practizing language structures, what are the typical ESA grammar lesson patchwork.The materials that are used for teaching can be divided into two groups: first is authentic materials that are produced for other reasons than teaching include newspapers, magazines, songs, poems...etc; and second one is created materials that are designed specifically for teaching, such as crosswords, roleplay cards, flash cards, gap fill activities. Course books have some advantages as well as disadvantages. Teacher should not use it all the time, but modify it according to the needs of class.
