A very interesting unit that covered the reasons for and how to evaluate students levels and progress.It discussed the ways used to access the levels,Tutorials,evaluation by the students and tests.Various examples of the English Language Skills Placement Test were also covered.
The stages and type of tests were discussed for example a Practice Test would be given to the students before sitting an external exam as a practice run.
All the different General external examinations were looked at including the Cambridge exams.This was a small unit that showed the difference in effectiveness of two types of source material. Created and authentic materials are very different and have their respective benefits in the class room. I use created materials quite frequently and now I would like to begin using Authentic materials more often. The second half of the lesson discusses course material. For the bulk of my work however, I am responsible for the course materials. I don't mind this however because it leaves me free to be creative in my lessons.
