Pronunciation includes: stress rhythm and phonology.
Intonation: the variation in tone and pitch in a sentence.
The intonation of a statement usually rises then falls. The rise and fall pattern is also used for straightforward questions.
A fall then rise pattern is used for indicating that the speaker wants a response or confirmation. It can also express surprise or disagreement.
A flat intonation indicates that the speaker doesn't have much to say and maybe doesn't want to communicate.

I found this unit extremely helpful for helping new teachers get a working structure for the short to long term goals for the students. The ESA method makes a lot a sense and most importantly allows flexibility based on the conditions of the students. If students need more time in a particular area there are ways to accomodate it, which is really helpful for a yeacher dealing with students at different levels and learning abilities.
