This unit has given me a thorough and precise knowledge about the present tense, and it's different forms. Specifically the knowledge about the situations where we use different forms of the present tense. The changing of the verb forms in different situations, the use of auxiliary/helping verbs and the role they play in making positive and negative and well as interrogative sentences. For me the special thing that I learned was the confusion between the usage of has and have. I'm a more competent English speaker and a teacher at the end of this unit.Course books can be a very helpful resource for teaching ESL. Every course book has it's advantages and disadvantages. A skilled teacher will analyze a course book and supplement where necessary. It is also important to use appropriate authentic and creative reading materials to make lessons more interesting. Ultimately it is easier to use a course book than to design the whole syllabus yourself. Since many course books are prepared for the general student population it is important to supplement with appropraite authentic and creative materials.
