This unit was very long and challenging, but I did learn a lot from it. I took about 5 Linguistic courses in college with my Spanish Education Degree. I also tutored Linguistics. It has been a lot time since I have looked at any of this information. It was a good refresh course. It is very important for students to understand phonology and pronunciation because English is very challenging in that aspect. I will find ways to use the charts as needed when teaching in the classroom.It is important to use a variety of equipment and teaching aids in the English language classroom. Mixing it up by using a combination of resources will help keep the class interesting for students. Some of these include interactive white boards, visual aids, CD players, DVD, dictionaries and online resources. Being able to practice with and properly set up machines like cassette records, overhead projectors and interactive white boards will help avoid wasted time during lessons.
