Teaching special groups is the subject matter of this unit. There are a wide range of groups requiring special attention when planning your classes. The groups whose characteristics are described in this unit are: beginners, individual students, children, business people and multilingual classes. The main features of every group is explained in detailed so the unit provides you with an excellent overview of the kind of student any teacher is going to cope with. In this respect, I have benefited a lot from the unit. I have only been teaching children and teenagers so far, and after learning unit 19 I feel that have a general knowledge of some student categories that I haven’t dealt with yet (e.g. business people and multilingual classes). The explanation about a needs analysis before teaching business people and the do’s and don’t to be taken into account when teaching special groups are especially useful in practical terms.
