Evaluating students’ level, pace, and progress is one of the responsibilities that teachers
have. There are several ways to assess students: Tutorials, Evaluation by the students, and
tests. Tutorials are the way of assessment that happen with the whole group or individuals.
Teachers take time to discuss or review how students performed. Evaluation by the students
is that students are evaluation the course, not only about teachers, but also about the level
of the classes, the balance of skills, and the effectiveness of learning. It is very useful for
teachers to revise and reflect on future lesson. Tests should take place the start of the
course as a Placement test (Diagnostic test), so that way, the improvement can be shown
with certain significance, which test is called Achievement tests or Progress tests. However,
if teacher thinks it is needed, short tests between classes for understanding of students’
pace can be conducted.
