This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This was an informative unit on potential problems a teacher might run into. The first lesson is sometimes a bit awkward and, above all, nerve-wracking. First impressions are everything, so I like the idea of having the students talk more about themselves with a questionnaire because it's a subject they already know everything about. Establishing rapport is absolute key in the first lesson and it will set the tone for the rest of the class. As for teaching a class with different levels, I believe the best way to work with this is to pair weaker and stronger students. That way the weaker student can get the extra help they need without feeling embarrassed or stupid, and the stronger student has to figure out a way to explain the lesson in their own words, which helps them better learn themselves. With reluctant students, they are always present. It is my goal to not have a single reluctant student by the end of my time teaching each class.
