By providing parallel presentations of both positive and negative lesson outcomes, this unit underscored the importance of adequate preparation and a good attitude on the part of the instructor to assure student success. The second lesson demonstrated various effective means, such as visual aids and pantomime gestures, to better illustrate new material and how to efficiently build a rapport with pupils. It definitely underscored the importance of engaging students through team assignments, rather than monotonous individual work with inadequate feedback and practice opportunities.The caution to use the course book as a syllabus and not as the only materials source is well-received. Authentic material and teacher created material will likely be far more interesting to the student, but time consuming to develop. It appears that if the teacher is living in a foreign country, authentic material may be hard to come by. It appears that a prospective teacher should be collecting authentic materials to be used at future dates. The internet has a plethora of supplemental material for teachers and students. The websites referenced in the unit were very helpful.
