This unit has been very helpful in getting me to think about possible teaching ideas and methods. It has helped me to identify the methods implemented by my co-teachers here in Japan. It has helped me to think about possible ways to structure lessons when I teach on my own and elements to bring in when I am co-teaching. I am glad the unit covered methods like patchwork and boomerang since they can be very beneficial in addressing the needs of students to a wide degree.In Unit 3, I have learned that eye contact and body language are essential for communication in a classroom. The use of gestures helps with understanding and exposes the students to the traditional methods of communication in English. I have also learned that classroom seating arrangements and class groupings can be useful for different methods of learning. Being a good teacher does not just take knowledge, but know-how in managing all aspects of a classroom setting.
