This unit discussed the productive skills, speaking and writing, of students. It described the difference between fluency and accuracy activities for speaking, as well as the importance of spelling, handwriting, layout and punctuation. I learned that teaching speaking skills may be easier than teaching writing skills, however, they are equally important, and there are different ways of teaching these things in an entertaining and motivating way.The unit introduces the concept of authentic and non-authentic class materials. It the discuses the advantages and disadvantages of authentic materials and designing non-authentic materials. It then revisits lesson planning, arguably after the syllabus one of the most important factors in the teaching process. Thereafter the unit discusses reference material resources, both book and internet based. Altogether an interesting and informative unit.
