This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
Reading and listening skills are two of the areas in a language where I put emphasis when I plan a lesson. This Unit 11 helps me to see different categories I need to have in mind when I pick a topic on readings and listening activities.
Also, the unit shows me the outline of a typical receptive skills lesson, based on authentic materials with different stages, useful at the mment that we have lot of information about one topic. Having a lesson with patchwork or straight arrow structure ESA is easy to plan ahead. This unit is about the differences between how a class should and should not be. The unit is captured in two videos. The first one show us many things that can make a lesson ineffective. For example, the teacher's attitude (not smiling, sitting on a chair while waiting for the students to finish their work, and even reading a book while the students work). Contrast the second video has shown a friendlier teacher that tries to engage the students using gestures and miming, calling the students by their names, etc.
