This unit consisted of two videos of lessons.
In the first lesson the teacher made several errors which made the students scared to answer and not involved in the lesson. Such errors were:
- Seeming grumpy and unhappy during the lesson
- Not praising students when they answer questions correctly, and conversely being overly dismissive when answering incorrectly
- Not explaining tasks well and leaving students to be confused
- Not paying attention to students when they are studying in order to understand where they might have trouble
The second video shows the same type of lesson with vast improvements:
- The teacher now explains all tasks and grammatical structures completely, with the use of visual aids, gestures and miming.
- During the study phase the students are put in pairs to work together
- The general demeanour of the teacher is much more friendly and easy; he praises good answers, doesn't reprimand wrong answers, and smiles much more
