This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
In this unit, I learned about different styles of class lessons and learning. Some of the different types of learning there are is Tasked based learning, Communicative language teaching, The silent way, Suggestopaedia and the lexical approach. I also learned a common structure of lesson is called ESA- Engage, Study, Activate. In the Engage stage is when the teacher should do introduction games and activities leading into the lesson that day. Then during the Study stage is when the teacher talks and gives the lesson. Correcting and giving some feedback from the Engage stage. The last part of the lesson should be the Activate stage where the teacher sees what the students have learned throughout the class and lesson. The students put their new skills to the test in different activities such as communicative games, role play, story building and producing materials. Three different types of ESA lessons are, Boomerang, Patchwork, and Straight Arrow.
