In this lesson we studied breaking ages into two groups. One being 5 to 9, group 1, and the other 9 to 13, group 2. For group 1 we would use a more engage and practice type methodology where there is more games and activities to repeat the target language over and over. For group 2 we would use the concept of Engage, Study, and Activate. We start off getting the students talking and thinking in English followed by teaching them the target language through studying techniques. We close up by allowing the students to use the target language along with previously learned taught skills giving them a chance to speak more naturally.
We also covered the classroom layout from circular to groups. Semi-circular is the most optimal as it allows the teacher to use the board and yet allow the students to interact with each other.
We also covered the likes and dislikes of the different age groups so we can better provide lesson activities for them to enjoy.
