This is probably the most interesting section to me as a linguist, and as someone who knows the importance of studying pronunciation. I know how people are perceived based on their accent and many people, particularly adults, are anxious and embarrassed about speaking their foreign language because they don't have a native-like accent. This unit does a good job pointing out the importance of studying pronunciation as many people are concerned with their own pronunciation, but it is nearly impossible to teach yourself how to properly pronounce a new language. Thus, it is immensely important for teachers to be able to teach pronunciation, to know IPA, and to be able to explain in various ways the physical methods of pronouncing new sounds. The mouth diagrams are very useful and I believe if your class is concerned about pronunciation, you should teach a lesson on the anatomy of the mouth so that you can continue to refer to it throughout the year!
