The choice of whether or not to use a course book,and if so,which one,can be quite a complex issue.In an ideal world school would have all the books and materials that you could need. The reality,however , is somewhat different.This means that often the teacher has to create his/her own materials to either supplement the course book,or replace sections that are not suitable for the class.For many students,compared to the course book,materials created by the teachers are more interesting,more relevant and a welcome change from the course book.
