How a teacher manages a class is key to the success of the students. Teachers are responsible for enforcing rules, managing negative behavior appropriately, encouraging and motivating students, implementing interesting and engaging topics and activities, eliciting the target language and building team work among the students. An ESL teacher may never have a class of the same level and background. Most of the time the levels of the students are varied and often have different cultural backgrounds. It is important that a teacher make his/her students feel comfortable in the class and willing to use English. When working with business men and woman who desire to learn English it is important for a teacher to gain as much background knowledge on the company and its employees' needs and English requirements. A teacher needs to remember that he/she is teaching a business man or woman how to improve their English abilities and not their business skills.
