I found this unit to be somewhat more difficult then the others. Only because it felt as though their could have been more examples on preparing different activities to have the students switch between engaging and activating and making the transition from writing to speaking, and vice versa. Otherwise this unit was still very helpful and enlightening on how to approach different difficulties individual students may have when speaking or writing in a new language and how to help them overcome these difficulties.Building vocabulary is so important for ELL students. It is important in the beginning because it is a way of helping students begin to communicate and gain confidence. But, it is also important for more efficient ELL students because, even though they are able to communicate and function, they are still lacking vocabulary to help them become fluent. I am always looking for new ways to introduce and practice vocabulary. Some of the techniques mentioned I had forgotten and need to bring back in to my classroom.
