I learnt that the amount of energy and enthusiasm given off from the teacher is a good predictor for how well students will engage. The use of game and role play creates a more relaxed environment where students are likely to participate. Giving instructions with examples and then asking the students \"what have I asked you to do\" and \"how do I do that?\" better ensures understanding of the task than asking whether they understand or not, shows what they don't understand, and allows the teacher to explain it in a different way.Modal verbs were covered in this unit, these are used to cover different ideas, such as; obligation, possibility/probability, permission/prohibition, ability and advice. These can also be used to make a sentence more formal, by using may instead of can. The chart provided was very useful, bearing in mind the expressions are not all true modals but do express the ideas. The passive voice is very interesting as many people speak in the passive voice, however many writing correction systems frown upon writing in the passive voice.
