In this unit I have learned the importance of planning a lesson. This plan acts as a guide , a working document and as a record in the event that another person has to take over the lesson. A good way to plan a lesson is to use a template with timing for each phase of the lesson as well as allowance for student - teacher interaction. In planning a lesson, factors to consider are flexibility, goals, revision, variety and balance. One of the primary grammatical tense is present perfect simple tense which was well understood.Unit 15 covered the topic evaluation and testing, including the three ways to assess a student?s language level; tutorials, evaluation by the students and tests. I learned e.g. that before we start teaching a language it is important to give a placement test to determine for which level the student is eligible, to give a periodic progress test to make sure that the student has learned something and that there are various external examinations; e.g. TOEFL, IELTS, TOEFIC, etc., and different categories of Cambridge exams.
