Unit 14 focuses on books and materials used by the teacher in the classroom. It is very important and complex issue since often the teacher will have to create his own materials or replace sections which are not suitable for the classroom. Thus, materials which are to be created by the teacher must be more interesting from stiff coursebooks. The materials described in this particular unit are dividd into 2 categories namely, authentic materials and created materials.This unit taught me many things about maintaining order and discipline in various types of classes. It discussed different techniques to use to enhance a teacher's lecture, such as visual clues like gestures. I also learned about how to group students and how to do so to make any given activity most effective. I learned about the do's and do not's of establishing discipline so as to maintain a rapport with the students and thus a positive atmosphere in the classroom.
