This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit focused on how to carry out the management of the class. I learned about eye contact, gesture and the voice, grouping of students, classroom arrangement, writing on the board, giving individual attention,TTT and STT, giving instructions, establishing rapport, and maintaining discipline.I found this lesson to be useful because it lays down the foundation for managing a class. The teacher seems to be able to keep a steady, comfortable flow of the class in order to create an environment which encourages all students to get involved in the lesson.Unit 4 covered Present Tense breaking it down into four main sections; present simple, present continuous, perfect present continuous. These four sections were then dissected into three further parts being affirmative (positive), negative and question form. From this I also learnt about the different usages each of the four present tenses had. Finally there were sample activities applying to the activate stage at the end of each present tense which really helped to link what I had just learnt and help me understand how it would be used in the classroom.
