In this unit I?ve learned about the differences between teaching different types of learners. Some learners are learning specifically for business, while others are children who may have been told to learn by parents or school teachers. These different groups require different methods such as kneeling down to the level of children, or making fun of yourself to retain their interest. Other methods involve knowing that there is no need to completely understand a student?s field of interest in order to teach them business English.In this unit I learned about the three major parts of teaching a new language, vocabulary, grammar, and language function. Each of these parts are important for learners to understand in order to put together sentences and do so correctly. Also in this unit I reinforced my knowledge of the ESA method of teaching (Engage, Study, Activate). Along with learning about these two areas I learned effective ways to combine them, such as it is better to use a straight arrow ESA approach when teaching vocabulary as opposed to the other methods.
