When teaching a new language we must focus on vocabulary and its meanings, the grammar use of the new vocabulary, and its functions. When teaching new vocabulary we must teach students the meaning of the word, the spelling of the word, the pronunciation of the word and how and when to use it. Also the grammar, we must teach the meaning, the use of the language, forms and patterns, and the spoken and written form. As for the function of the language, lesson must stress the need for the activation of the language, which is putting it to practice and test.This unit let me focus on the various methods and techniques I could use in a lesson to foster learning for different types of learners. Each method was shown to have their advantages and disadvantages so as a teacher, I would be able to decide what was best depending on the situation. The ESA really allowed for a general idea of lesson structure and the in-depth detail of each phase was very clear and helpful - it showed me that there were a lot more techniques than I had initially thought of, and that creativity really aids in promoting good learning.
