Pronunciation and phonology are the most neglected aspects of ESL teaching. This is most likely due to lack of training and confidence to teach this subject. It took me two weeks to read this incredibly boring and tedious chapter. Although I found this chapter to be extremely tedious and boring, pronounciation and phonology are important aspects to teach ESL students. I am confident I will learn better techniques to teach this aspect of English to my students than the methods presented in this chapter.I believe, teaching English is a challenging, yet rewarding career choice. Good teacher must learn to adapt to the students needs, this means dealing with a variety of problems in the classroom, many of these are so common, which means teachers must be able to recognize them and work out the solutions.
The most recognized problem is the persistent of using students first language, or management and discipline issues, etc.. I guess most of the useful tips to tackle those problems was covered in this unit.
