It's interesting to dwell on how subtle cues can affect the success of a classroom and/or teacher. But cues like eye contact, voice level, and classroom organization are all components of a classroom's ambience, and without control of the classroom atmosphere it is difficult to make learning successful. Each classroom is going to be different, which is why in my role as teacher, having the awareness to tailor each lesson to its classroom will be an important task. In my favorite classes, teaches were consistent and maintained a strong sense of control without sacrificing the need to be expressive with their own opinion, and therefore interesting. I'm going to strive towards that model, engaging students with enthusiasm but without giving any inches or allowing for any doubt about lesson structure. Elements like voice, eye contact, classroom organization, and discipline will be crucial variables in fine-tuning the classroom I want my students to learn in.
