Throughout this unit defining a good teacher has been addressed and some of the various roles a teacher plays in class. I've learned that a teacher must be adaptable from lesson to lesson and within a lesson itself. A teacher must have a good knowledge base, be fair and able to motivate students of all levels by keeping things varied and interesting. It's important for a teacher to understand the level that they are teaching in order to keep the learning material engaging and challenging to the right degree based on the student's abilities.
I have also learned about some of the different types of challenges which arise from teaching different age groups and different cultures. I feel the various age groups will require different teaching styles in order to motivate and engage students. This will be because the students will have their own varying levels of motivation, abilities, confidence and possibly pre-defined ideas of how a lesson should be taught.
