This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
The four forms of testing and evaluation provide important information regrading a student's english language ability and often direct the teacher in future lessons. The placement test, given at the start of a course, helps to group students into language levels. Similarly a diagnostic test will evaluate a student's language knowledge. These initial examinations will help the teacher to create future lessons. Periodically throughout the course practice tests will be given to evaluate how much a student has learned or retained. This is also an evaluation as to how well a teacher may be presenting the material. Practice tests prepare students for external examinations, often following the same format. External examinations assess students language level and appropriateness for things such as college and job placement. It is important for the teacher to familiarize herself/himself with student testing as most institutions require some form of formal testing.
