This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
In this unit, teaching special groups is covered and various groupings of students are discussed. This includes a variety of age levels, language abilities, and what resources/materials and techniques a teacher needs or can use to his/her advantage to best suit each group. For example, when teaching young learners, it is good to have lots of visuals and keep the activities fairly short. This will help with keeping their attention and prevent boredom in the classroom. For an older group, visuals are great, but having more project based activities are possible, and the teacher can take advantage of their previous life experiences and knowledge. Overall, a teacher needs to be adaptive and think about how each classroom can thrive because regardless of many different factors, each classroom will be different and may need special accommodations. Using surveys like a \"needs analysis\" can assist in understanding what specific needs a group of students may have.
