This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
The title of this unit was ‘Teaching New Language’; its focus was centered on the teaching of grammar, vocabulary, and the language functions.
It explained the importance of teaching vocabulary, especially to students still in the early stages, and gave an example ESA lesson centered on vocabulary. The unit also explained that a lesson more geared towards vocabulary or grammar typically employ the ‘Straight Arrow’ ESA method. While a “Boomerang’ or ‘Patchwork’ ESA lesson would be more suitable for teaching language functions.
The lesson defined what exactly language functions were (areas such as inviting, refusing, agreeing, suggesting, and so on), and gave an example ESA lesson as it did with grammar and vocabulary.
While the material of this unit was rather short, the information that it provided was no less important or useful.
