Unit Ten contains information on various methods to evaluate students. The discussion includes assessment instruments conducted in English Language classes and those conducted externally. For example Cambridge evaluations offer assessments for general life style 'Skills for Life' and specific topics such as 'Business English'. Evaluation tools available to teachers have many uses including entry level, progress, diagnostic and practice.
I believe an effective teacher is continually assessing students using both formal and informal methods. We conduct end of Semester Final Assessments which is compulsory but the lead up to this assessment requires continual evaluation of the students. Informal assessment may include a casual conversation with a student or in class exercises. Also observation is an important evaluation tool. I am familiar with the material contained in this unit although the names used to identify various types of assessment are different.
