This Unit discusses the importance of having a lesson plan and the experience f teachers depends heavily on how these plans are constructed. The more expereinced teachers can gage and predict how long each part of the lesson will take. Less experienced teachers will have to consider the level of ability of their students as well as monitor the response of the students; enjoyable activities may take more time but will be good as students are more engaged. There are several ways to structure a lesson but it is very helpful to substitute teachers if the following points are included; Objectives, learner objectives, language point, teaching aids and equipment, anticipated difficulties, process, phase and timing, interaction date and time, number of students, teacher's and observer's names(when applicable). These are important not only for substitute teachers but also for the teacher to refer to lesson plans to identify points of improvement and class progress.
