Unit 14 gives guidelines for using variety materials and course books to support teachers? teaching and students? learning. It divides the teaching materials into two groups: Authentic materials and created materials. Unit 14 outlines the reasons for using authentic materials, as well as giving great examples for created materials. Course books are great and no one can deny how helpful they have been to teachers especially during the first years of teaching. Unit 14 briefly states the advantages and disadvantages of course books, how to best choose and use the course books.This unit covered pronunciation. This is a favorite topic of mine as I feel it is a good basis for learning the language and being able to take apart unknown words to understand their meaning and pronunciation. It covered the basics of the phonemic alphabet which is very useful in helping to explain the sounds used in English and the matching spellings that can be made for those different sounds. It also covered intonation and stress which is important in conveying the intent, feeling and meaning in a statement and what is implicitly expected from both the listener and speaker.
