This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit reminds me how I learned languages. I do speak four languages; Korean, English, Chinese and Spanish. When I learned Chinese in China, I focused on the grammar, vocabulary and the usage of them, because Chinese grammar is completely different my native language,Korean, It took a long time to get used to use new language structure. Moreover, I could guess Chinese words based on Korean words, so I was hard and fun at the same time to learn Chinese grammar and vocabs. Since I'm living in the U.S., naturally English is the most fluent language that I speak now. However, still my mission is to use my receptive vocabulary as much as possible. I totally agree with that a learner's receptive vocabulary is much larger than his or her productive vocabulary; the students can usually understand many more words than they can actively use. At this point, I definitely think teachers' job is to help their students use those receptive vocabulary as often as possible.
