This unit taught basic grammar that one who wants to have a better understanding of English would need to succeed in that endeavor. Though I knew quite a few of the words and meanings from a University class I took, this course gave me a better understanding of grammar. The university course was fast paced and hard to understand, where as taking my time in this course helped. Also I felt this course explained each part better than the class I took, and the book that came with it.The unit elaborates the use of conditionals and reported speech. One learns that conditionals are sentences containing 'if' which refer to present past and future possibilities. After reading this unit I was able to distinguish the five main conditionals and could construct sentences with zero conditional for example Water turns to ice if you freeze it. This example is a fact.
The unit also highlight the various techniques of teaching conditionals and reported and direct speech.
