This is how our TEFL graduates feel they have gained from their course, and how they plan to put into action what they learned:
This unit covers the pros and cons of various methods of teaching. Also, is presented how to teach the ESA method effectively. Having been taught Latin, French and Spanish mainly by the Grammar-translation method, I look forward to using a more natural teacher-student method. I see that the teacher must be creative and spontaneous to effectively engage the students. He/She will often take cues from the students' usage of the language to then adjust them.Unit 12 follows on from Unit 11 informing teachers about two productive skills such as speaking and writing and taking a close look at all kinds of techniques and activities that can help both the teacher and student in the English language classroom. I also learnt about the difference between accuracy and fluency based activities and in what order should they be used in the classroom. At the end of the Unit I also found very useful links for some games.
